North Bend

A North Bend woman was arrested Tuesday on a charge of car theft.

According to a North Bend Police press release, at about 9:41 a.m., a Ford Escape was reported stolen from the parking lot of Oregon First Community Federal Credit Union, 2002 Inland Drive. Around 5 p.m., it was located in the parking lot of Staples, 1995 Newmark Ave., by Andy Adams, 59, of Coos Bay, who had repossessed the vehicle in April. He confronted the driver and subdued her until Coos Bay and North Bend police officers arrived.

Chelsea Wolgast, 22, was arrested on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. She was taken to Coos County jail, where she was booked and released on her own recognizance.

Brookings

A Brookings woman was arrested Tuesday on identity theft-related charges. According to the Curry County Sheriff's Office arrest log, at about 12:30 p.m., deputies responded to a report of credit card fraud at Appel's Home Furnishings, 16094 Highway 101, in Brookings. Deputies arrested Amanda Walker, 19, on charges of identity theft, first-degree theft and fraudulent use of a credit card. She was taken to Curry County jail, where she is being held on a $75,000 bail.
