Three South Coast athletes won state titles in the Oregon State Hershey Track Meet last weekend.
Peyton Babb and Madeline Shirley of Powers won two titles each, while Cole Waddington of Coquille also was a winner.
The three now will be considered as possible representatives for the Northwest Region at the national meet in Hershey, Pa., in August. Babb was the last local athlete to compete at the national meet, two summers ago.
Babb finished first in the 11-12 age group in both the standing long jump, with a mark of 7 feet, 5 inches, and in the 100 meters, with a time of 14.13 seconds.
Shirley, competing in the 9-10 age group, won both the 100 (14.93) and 200 (32.42). She also was second in the standing long jump (6-3).
Waddington, competing in the 13-14 division, was first in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:15.47.
Several other South Coast residents also competed in the state meet. Those who placed fourth or better in at least one event included Kirstin Banta of North Bend; Maegen Miranda and Devrie Dewald of Myrtle Point; Lindsey Wright, Ashton Mann and Charles Chavtur of Reedsport; and Emily Moe, Stacie Gayewski, Tracee Scott, Natalie Hill and Kirsten Woolsey of Coos Bay.
