North Bend graduate Ashley McCrea competed in her first U.S. National meet Friday, finishing 16th in the javelin.

The two-time state champion and current University of Oregon thrower had a best of 148 feet, 9 inches in the event. Fellow Duck and NCAA champion Rachel Yurkovich was sixth with a throw of 170-5. Dana Pounds won the event with an effort of 195-8.
