Robert and Winnetta Vining of Bandon recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family.
The couple were married June 21, 1947, in Beaver Dam, Wis.
From 1943 to 1946 Robert served in the U.S. Army infantry in the South Pacific.
They operated a cafe in Beaver Dam from 1948 to 1952. Robert went to school at the DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago. In 1953 they moved to Pomona, Calif., where he worked for many years as an electronic technician. They also operated a cafe in Twentynine Palms, Calif. They worked as resident managers for 13 years at a Christian Conference Center in Lucerne, Calif.
In 1979 they moved to Bandon and owned and operated the Eating Station Restaurant until their retirement in 1987, when they turned the operation of the restaurant to their daughter Nancy and her husband, Martin.
They have three children, Bruce Vining, Jon Vining and his wife, Cathy; Nancy Hauser and her husband, Martin; one grandchild, Nathan and his wife, Lynette; and several great-grandchildren.
Since their retirement they have enjoyed many bus tours with a Christian group from Portland. They also enjoyed traveling in their Fifth Wheel.
Since September 2005, they have again taken over the restaurant and in July 2007, Jon and Cathy will be in charge.
They also have the station gift shop which Bruce manages. This all happened after Nancy and Martin Hauser sold out and moved to Kailua Kona, Hawaii.
They are members of the Faith Baptist Church. |
