The following movies are playing at South Coast theaters:

* Evan Almighty - Newly elected to Congress, the polished, preening newscaster, Evan Baxter (Steve Carell), is the next one anointed by God (Morgan Freeman) to accomplish a holy mission - walking in the footsteps of Bruce Almighty. Evan leaves Buffalo behind and shepherds his family (Lauren Graham, Graham Phillips, Johnny Simmons) to suburban northern Virginia. Once there, his life gets turned upside-down when God appears and mysteriously commands him to build an ark. But his befuddled family just can't decide whether Evan is having an extraordinary mid-life crisis or is truly onto something of Biblical proportions. (PG for mild rude humor and some peril.) Florence Cinemas, Pony Village Cinemas.

* Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer - The enigmatic, intergalactic herald, The Silver Surfer (Doug Jones, voice of Laurence Fishburne), comes to Earth to prepare it for destruction. As the Silver Surfer races around the globe wreaking havoc, Reed (Ioan Gruffudd), Sue (Jessica Alba), Johnny (Chris Evans) and Ben (Michael Chiklis) must unravel the mystery of the Silver Surfer and confront the surprising return of their mortal enemy, Dr. Doom (Julian McMahon), before all hope is lost. (PG for sequences of action violence, some mild language and innuendo.) Florence Cinemas, Pony Village Cinemas, Redwood Theater.

* 1408 - Renowned horror novelist Mike Enslin (John Cusack) believes only in what he can see with his own two eyes. But after a string of bestsellers discrediting paranormal events in the most infamous haunted houses and graveyards around the world, he has no real proof of life - afterlife. But Enslin's phantom-free run of long and lonely nights is about to change forever when he checks into suite 1408 of the notorious Dolphin Hotel for his latest project, “Ten Nights in Haunted Hotel Rooms.” Defying the warnings of the hotel manager (Samuel L. Jackson), the author is the first person in years to stay in the reputedly haunted room. Another bestseller may be imminent, but first he must go from skeptic to true believer - and ultimately survive the night. (PG-13 for thematic material including disturbing sequences of violence and terror, frightening images and language.) Florence Cinemas, Pony Village Cinemas.

* Hostel: Part II - Three young Americans (Lauren German, Heather Matarazzo, Vera Jordanova) studying in Rome set off for a weekend trip when they run into a beautiful model (Bijou Phillips) from one of their art classes. Also on her way to an exotic destination, the gorgeous European invites the coeds to come along, assuring them they will be able to relax and rejuvenate. But they are poised to become victims for hire. (R for sadistic scenes of torture and bloody violence, terror, nudity, sexual content, language and some drug content.) Pony Village Cinemas.

* Knocked Up - Allison Scott (Katherine Heigl) is an up-and-coming entertainment journalist whose 24-year-old life is on the fast track. But it gets seriously derailed when a drunken one-nighter with slacker Ben Stone (Seth Rogen) results in an unwanted pregnancy. Faced with the prospect of going it alone or getting to know the baby's father, Allison decides to give the lovable doof a chance. (R for sexual content, drug use and language.) Pony Village Cinemas.

* Mr. Brooks - Consider Mr. Brooks (Kevin Costner): a successful businessman; a generous philanthropist; a loving father and devoted husband. But Mr. Brooks has a secret - he is an insatiable serial killer, so lethally clever that no one has ever suspected him - until now. As he succumbs to one last murderous urge, an amateur photographer witnesses the crime. Suddenly Brooks finds himself entangled in the dark agenda of an opportunistic bystander (William Hurt), as well as hunted by the unorthodox and tenacious detective Tracy Atwood (Demi Moore). (R for strong bloody violence, some graphic sexual content, nudity and language.) Pony Village Cinemas.

* Nancy Drew - Nancy Drew (Emma Roberts), the resourceful teen detective, leaves her hometown of River Heights for the West Coast and enrolls at Hollywood High School. There, her unique personal style immediately sets her apart from her self-absorbed, fast-living peers, especially reigning fashionistas Inga (Daniella Monet) and Trish (Kelly Vitz), who can't quite figure her out but know that everything about her is different - from her super-smarts and retro manners to her perfect picnic lunches and penny loafers. But Nancy has more important things to think about - namely, a brand new mystery. Even though she promised her worried dad (Tate Donovan) that she'd quit the “sleuthing” business, it isn't long before Nancy gets a lead on one of the greatest unsolved cases of all time: the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of famous actress Dehlia Draycott (Laura Harring). (PG for mild violence, thematic elements and brief language.) Pony Village Cinemas.

* Ocean's Thirteen - What are the odds of getting even? Danny Ocean (George Clooney) and the gang (Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, etc.) would have only one reason to pull off their most ambitious and riskiest casino heist - to defend one of their own. But they're going to need more than luck on their side to break The Bank. Ruthless casino owner Willy Bank (Al Pacino) never imagined that the odds were against him when he double-crossed Danny Ocean's friend and mentor Reuben Tishkoff (Elliott Gould), putting the distraught Reuben in a hospital bed in critical condition. But Bank miscalculated - badly. He may have taken down one of the original Ocean's eleven, but he left the others standing and, worse for him, gave them a shared purpose: to take Bank down on the night of what should be his greatest triumph - the grand opening of his new casino, appropriately named The Bank. Their strategy is twofold. First they will ruin him financially by turning the tables on the precept that the house always wins. The knockout punch will be to Bank's personal pride and joy: his reputation as the only hotelier who has earned the Royal Review Board's Five Diamond Award on every single one of his hotels. (PG-13 for brief sensuality.) Florence Cinemas, Pony Village Cinemas, Savoy Theatre.

* Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) are allied with Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) in a desperate quest to free Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from his mind-bending trap in Davy Jones' locker, while the terrifying ghost ship, The Flying Dutchman, and Davy Jones, under the control of the East India Trading Company, wreaks havoc across the Seven Seas. Navigating through treachery, betrayal and wild waters, they must forge their way to exotic Singapore and confront the cunning Chinese Pirate Sao Feng (Chow Yun-Fat). Now headed beyond the very ends of the earth, each must ultimately choose a side in a final, titanic battle, as not only their lives and fortunes, but the entire future of the freedom-loving pirate way, hangs in the balance. (PG-13 for intense sequences of action/adventure violence and some frightening images.) Pony Village Cinemas.

* Shrek the Third - Being king isn't for everyone - especially if you're a prickly ogre who smells like the shallow end of a swamp. When Shrek (voice of Mike Myers) married Fiona (Cameron Diaz), the last thing he wanted was to rule Far Far Away, but when his frogger-in-law, King Harold, suddenly croaks, Shrek is quickly fitted for the crown. Now, unless he can find a suitable replacement, he'll be royally screwed for the rest of his days. So Shrek sets off on a quest to find the only other possible heir to the throne, Fiona's long-lost cousin Artie (Justin Timberlake), an underachieving medieval high schooler. While the ogre is away, his old nemesis Prince Charming (Rupert Everett) returns to Far Far Away with redemption on his shallow little mind. Even with Donkey (Eddie Murphy) and the ever-so-suave Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) by their side, it's going to take an ogre-sized effort - and a lot of help from Fiona and her princesses - for Shrek and Artie to save the day. (PG for some crude humor, suggestive content and swashbuckling action.) Pony Village Cinemas.

* Spiderman 3 - Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) has finally managed to strike a balance between his devotion to M.J. (Kirsten Dunst) and his duties as a superhero. But there is a storm brewing on the horizon. When his suit suddenly changes, turning jet-black and enhancing his powers, it transforms Peter as well, bringing out the dark, vengeful side of his personality that he is struggling to control. Forced to choose between the seductive power of the new suit and the compassionate hero he used to be, Peter must overcome his personal demons as two of the most-feared villains yet, Sandman (Thomas Haden Church) and Venom (Topher Grace), gather unparalleled power and a thirst for retribution to threaten Peter and everyone he loves. (PG-13 for sequences of intense action violence.) Pony Village Cinemas.

* Surf's Up - Based on the groundbreaking revelation that surfing was actually invented by penguins, a documentary crew will take audiences behind the scenes and onto the waves during the most competitive, heartbreaking and dangerous display of surfing known to man, the Penguin World Surfing Championship. With the voices of Jeff Bridges, Shia LaBeouf, Zooey Deschanel, James Woods and Jon Heder. (PG for mild language and some rude humor.) Florence Cinemas, Pony Village Cinemas.
