County holding free metal collection through Tuesday

Coos County is holding a residential metal collection event at the Beaver Hill Disposal Site that started on Tuesday and will run through Tuesday, June 26. The fee for metal will be waived during this time period.

Examples of accepted items are washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters, small metal appliances, wood burning stoves, empty burn barrels, barbecues, microwave ovens, refrigerators/freezers (Coos County will remove freon and compressors), small and large metal tools, metal furniture, bicycles, metal exercise equipment, tire rims, lawn equipment (drained), empty propane tanks with valve/stem removed, metal fencing with wood posts removed, nails, screws, misc. (place in metal container or tin cans) and other miscellaneous scrap metal.

Items that will not be accepted are vehicles, logging and fishing cable and household hazardous waste (paint, solvent, tar, etc.).

If you have any household garbage, furniture, brush, tires, e-waste (TVs or computer equipment) or construction debris that you are bringing to Beaver Hill, please remember those items will need to be separated. The fees for these items will not be waived during the metal collection event.

Recycling items that are accepted for no charge at Beaver Hill are newspapers and magazines, cardboard (flattened), aluminum and tin cans (must be clean), plastic (bottleneck No. 1 - 7, milk jugs, water bottles, laundry soap jugs, etc.), glass jars (clear), green and brown (must be clean), flower pots (any size/material), motor oil (in 1-2 gallon clear plastic containers with tight lids) and lead-acid batteries (auto, motorcycle, lawn equipment).

Beaver Hill Disposal Site hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and closed Sunday and Monday.
