Fishing, clamming contest in Charleston

The First-annual Mud Flats Triathlon will be held from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Charleston Visitor Center, 91141 Cape Arago Highway, in Coos Bay.
The contest will pit men, women or teams against competitors to see who can clam, crab and fish the most in a single day. Permits are required and contestants must not exceed legal fishing limits.
Weigh in is any time between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Entry fees cost $5 per individual or $12 per team, with a three person limit. A prize presentation will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Chuck's Seafood parking lot, 5055 Boat Basin Road, in Coos Bay.
The event is sponsored by the Bay Area Sunrise Rotary Club to benefit community projects. For more information, those interested can call 888-0870.
