Two Roseburg men were injured in a single-vehicle crash Saturday near Loon Lake Campground.
According to a Douglas County Sheriff's Office press release, at about 1 a.m., a Nissan pickup truck was traveling in the 9000 block of Loon Lake Road when it drove off the road, into the lake. The driver, John Forrester, 18, told police the last thing he remembered was listening to the radio and then waking up and finding the vehicle submerged in water up to its cab.
Forrester and a passenger, Michael Rifenbark, 18, were transported to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg with knee injuries. According to a hospital spokeswoman, both men were treated and released. Forrester was released with a splint and taken to Douglas County Courthouse, where he was cited on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants and fourth-degree assault. The pickup was pulled out of the lake at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. |
