A teen wanted on a warrant for a parole violation was found Thursday evening in Eugene, less than two weeks after she ran away from the Wineva Johnson Center for Girls.

According to an intake counselor at the Lane County Juvenile Department, officers located and detained Vanessa S. Goodwin, 15, on Thursday, but refused to say what time and where she was found. She was released Friday to return to Coos County's Juvenile Detention center.

Dennis Goodwin said he learned Friday that officers came to a home where they met and identified his daughter, who did not carry any identification.

He and the Coos County Sheriff's Office began searching for Vanessa after she left the center on May 18.

Goodwin said he is relieved that she's been found.

“I was scared for my daughter, and I actually have a smile on my face now because I know she's safe,” Goodwin said.
