Public gets a chance to meet CB superintendent finalists

The Coos Bay School Board will host an open house on Tuesday to give community members a chance to meet the two finalists in the district's superintendent search. Bob De La Vergne and Donna Howard will be at the Milner Crest Education Center from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on June 5.
It will be an informal gathering, with opportunities to visit with the candidates and ask questions. Note cards will be available to share comments about the candidates with the School Board.
De La Vergne is currently superintendent of the Blachly School District in Lane County, where he has served since 2002. His background also includes service as a teacher for the Blachly School District, which consists of one K-12 school. De La Vergne has a master's degree in professional technical teacher education from Oregon State University, and a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Oregon.
Howard is presently the principal of the International School of the Cascades in the Redmond School District. She also has served as principal of the Hugh Hartman Middle School, in Redmond, and as vice principal at Redmond High. She has a master's degree in nutrition and science education from the California State University at Chico, and a bachelor's degree in education from Oregon State University.
The gathering will take place in the Community Room at Milner Crest, 1255 Hemlock Avenue in Coos Bay. |
