Bandon High School commencement ceremony set for June 9

Commencement exercises for the Bandon High School Class of 2007 will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, at the Otis K. Murray Court in the Bandon High School Gymnasium, 550 Ninth St. S.W.
A baccalaureate service will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, in the Bandon Community Center.
An award assembly will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, for all BHS students and parents at the Harbor Lights Middle School gymnasium, 390 Ninth St. S.W.
Valedictorians for the class are Logan Scherer, Hollie Lemerande and Colleen O'Neill. Salutatorians are Dustin Culver, Jillian Alexander, Kylyn Small, Loren Benson and Bess Goddard.
Logan Scherer is the son of Guy and Noni Scherer of Bandon. Logan will be attending OSU in the fall, majoring in sports science. Although he is keeping his career options open, he plans to go into a profession where he can help people, such as physical education or personal training.
Hollie Lemerande is the daughter of Robert and Jeanne Lemerande of Bandon. She plans to attend Linfield College where she will major in English, with the hope of one day becoming a high school English teacher.
Colleen O'Neill is the daughter of Sally and Brian O'Neill, both of Bandon. She plans to attend Pacific University majoring in exercise science. Her goal is to obtain a degree in physical education to become a teacher, as well as, a varsity volleyball coach.
Dustin Culver is the son of Angie and Blain Culver, both of Bandon. He will be attending Southwestern Oregon Community College to obtain his associate degree and then transfer to Oregon State University to complete his bachelor's and eventually his master's degree in secondary education. He would like to teach at a small school, much like Bandon.
Jillian Alexander is the daughter of Michael and Christine Alexander. Jillian plans to attend Oregon State University to receive her bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering and then continue her education to obtain a master's degree. Her desire is to help develop treatments for diseases.
Kylyn Small is the son of Kimberly and Lee Jonas. He plans to attend Portland State in the fall to study English. His desire is to become an English professor in an Oregon college, preferably in the Portland area.
Loren Benson is the son of Valentine and Jon Benson of Bandon. He will be attending the University of Oregon where he plans to study law. Loren is a proud recipient of the Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship.
Bess Goddard (photo not available) is the daughter of Anne and Donny Goddard of Bandon. She plans to attend Seattle University and has not decided on a major course of study. She would like to start with the basic required classes and keep her options open.
