North Bend High School graduates will walk on June 8

Commencement exercises for the North Bend High School Class of 2007 will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 8, at the North Bend High School Gymnasium, 2323 Pacific Ave.

B.J. Hollensteiner, superintendent, and Carolyn Thompson, North Bend School District board chairwoman, will deliver the graduation message and North Bend High School Principal Bill Lucero will speak to the 180 graduating seniors on behalf of the faculty.

A baccalaureate service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, in the North Bend High School Gymnasium, with Mr. Steve Greif as the Keynote speaker. Opening prayer with the Rev. Jon Strasman from the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and the closing blessing by the Rev. Pam Meese from the First United Methodist Church.

Valedictorians for the class are Carli Bowman, Chelsea Hall, Amy Elizabeth Kronsteiner and Justin Thomas. Sara Marroquin is the class salutatorian.

Carli Bowman is the daughter of Tim and Elaine Bowman of North Bend. Carli plans to attend George Fox University and study pre-med. She was very involved in sports. She was on two state championship teams; basketball state champion in 2005, volleyball state champion in 2006 and was also involved in the Mr. Bulldog Pageant helping to raise more than $80,000 for the Children's Miracle Network.

Chelsea Hall is the daughter of James and Laurie Hall of North Bend. Chelsea plans to attend Linfield College and pursue a degree in mathematics and secondary education with a possible minor in Spanish. Her career intention is to be a high school math teacher. Chelsea's high school activities include 2006 girls' state citizen, is a member of the North Bend cross country team (two years), member of the North Bend track and field team (three years, team captain senior year), a Key Club member and a National Honor Society member for three years.

Amy Elizabeth Kronsteiner is the daughter of Mike and Libby Hughes and Lonnie and Diana Kronsteiner. Amy plans to pursue a degree in aerospace engineering at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Calif. She has been very active during her high school career with sports and student government. Amy is senior class co-president, a co-coorinator for Mr. Bulldog, a member of the National Honor Society and the Key Club. Amy was also crowned Miss Flame for the Class of 2007.

Sara Marroquin is the daughter of Jessica Quinlan and Jose Marroquin of North Bend. Sara plans to attend Linfield College and study pre-med with a minor in Spanish. Sara has been very active in sports. She was named all-league in soccer for the three years she played high school soccer and hopes to continue playing for Linfield. Sara also has played tennis during her time at North Bend High School.

Justin Thomas (photo not available) is the son of Laura and Joseph Thomas of Coos Bay. Justin is valedictorian of our North Bend High School's Oregon Coast Technology School. Justin has taken several classes in advanced networking. Justin plans to join the U.S. Air Force.
