Newspaper museum open for summer tours

The Marshfield Sun Printing Museum is open for the summer.
Admission is free to the historic newspaper office that features displays of antique printing presses and newspaper and photo-related exhibits.
The unique five-sided building has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places and is located at 1049 N. Front St., across U.S. Highway 101. Its sparkly white building is distinguishable by the slim, early 1900s wooden frame reminiscent of an earlier-day Marshfield, Coos Bay's former name.
Exhibits include “The Mosquito Fleet” featuring top-quality photographs of ships and boats from the vast collection of Victor West of North Bend.
Also upstairs are numerous examples of old-time printing jobs. There are legal abstracts, business cards and a “Louis Simpson for Governor” poster.
Hours are from 1 to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, Memorial Day through Labor Day. The museum also is open by appointment, by calling 266-0901 or 267-3762.
