Food drive under way through May

Wednesday, May 23, 2007 |
Throughout May, donations of nonperishable items are being gathered to be distributed to those living with HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C on the South Coast. Unity of Bandon is organizing the drive with the items to be distributed through the Coos County Health Department.
Items needed in the drive include laundry soap, bandages, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, plastic bags, shampoo, shaving cream, shavers, Immodium, Neosporin, cleaning supplies, paper towels or any personal care items. For many, these are luxury items which cannot be purchased with food stamps and a large part of many people's monthly income goes toward medication. Pet food and supplies also are being collected and cash or check donations will be accepted.
To donate personal care items or add the name of someone in need to Unity's distribution list, those interested can call 347-4696.
