BROOKINGS (AP) - An 83-year-old Brookings man missing the past two weeks has been found dead with the burned-out remains of his minivan, which was stuck on a remote road in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest.

Curry County Sheriff's deputies said the body of William G. Boyer was found Wednesday with his vehicle on a spur road near the Quail Prairie Mountain Lookout about 25 miles outside of Brookings near the Kalmiopsis Wilderness.

It appeared Boyer had gone into the roadside ditch trying to turn around where a tree had fallen across the road. He apparently tried to use a log to lever the car out of the ditch, but in the course of running the engine, a fire started and his body was badly burned. There was no evidence of foul play, deputies said.

Boyer had been missing since April 21. His body was found by a Brookings resident, who called authorities.
