Health day

Monday, April 16, 2007 |
The Oregon Lions Mobile Health Screening Unit will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, at Ray's Food Place, 66 Michigan Ave. S.E., for Bandon Lions Health Day.
The clinic provides free screenings for visual acuity, glaucoma, blood pressure, hearing and glucose levels. The Lions provide year-round assistance to citizens with vision and hearing needs, project chairman Bill Swanson said. The mobile unit assists with screenings for other health needs.
Booths, manned by professionals and volunteers from the Bandon VA Clinic, Southern Coos Hospital and Health Center, Family and Community Development Services and the Bandon Lions Club, also will provide information and guidance on proper health care, diet and nutrition and exercise programs.
Adults may receive all five screenings, but the glucose test requires at least a three hour fast prior to the exam. Children will only be tested for visual acuity and hearing.
