Q: What is that little white building that has appeared on South Fourth Street between the bank and City Subs in downtown Coos Bay?

A: The building belongs to Jardin Kazaar, owner of Black Market Gourmet, which is located nearby. It will house a new Kazaar enterprise, Foodies Grill, which will feature, according to the chef, “fast food with a conscience.” Kazaar said he and his wife, Kristin Hoefer, hope in the future to expand Foodies Grill into a chain of restaurants with locations in Eugene and Portland.

Kazaar said he also is in the process of writing a “how-to manual” based on his experiences of many years in the cuisine business.

The goal of the tiny eatery will be to serve customers within 3 minutes of their ordering. On the menu will be barbecued beef or chicken sandwiches on whole grain breads with all natural condiments, a Caribbean taco of beef or chicken served with fresh mango and pineapple salsa and a number of all-natural drinks. Plans call for the business to open Memorial Day weekend.
