The following are options for people who want to camp or stay in or around the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.

€ Burns: Contact the Harney County Chamber of Commerce to find out about motels and bed and breakfasts at (541) 573-2636 or online at www.harneycounty.com. The Burns community Web site can be found at www.el.com/to/burns. There also are yurt and RV accommodations at the north end of the refuge at the Narrows. It includes a store, gas station, food and laundry facilities.

€ Field station: The Malheur Field Station has dorms and single-wide trailers for rent. There are kitchens in the dorms and food service is available during certain times of the year. The station caters largely to € Elderhostel, researchers and college students, but others are welcome. It has a small natural history museum, bookstore recreation room and gymnasium. € Campgrounds: There aren't any on the refuge. Contact the U.S. Bureau of Land Management Burns District for options in the region at (541) 573-4400, online at www.blm.gov/or/districts/burns/index.php; and the U.S. Forest Service office in Hines at (541) 573-4300, online at www.fs.fed.us/r6/malheur/.

€ Frenchglen: The historic Frenchglen Hotel has eight rooms and serves family-style meals. The hotel was built in the early 1900s. It is a state historic site, boasting an American Foursquare architecture, and open from March 15 through Nov. 15. There also is Drover's Inn located behind the hotel.
