Bat-wielding assailants attack boy

A Coos Bay boy was assaulted with baseball bats Wednesday in the Empire area.
According to the Coos Bay Police log, at about 4:06 p.m., a woman reported her 12-year-old stepson told her he was assaulted by baseball bat-wielding bullies in the 200 block of South Schoneman Street. He was taken to Bay Area Hospital, where a spokeswoman said he was treated and released. No arrests have been made. An investigation is continuing.
