Coos Bay

A Coos Bay man was injured Monday night when his vehicle crashed through a guardrail on Central Avenue.

According to a Coos Bay Police press release, at about 11:22 p.m., officers responded to several 911 calls reporting a car accident at the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Central Avenue in Coos Bay. Officers found a red Pontiac Firebird that had crashed through the guardrail and a retaining wall in the front yard of 1375 Central Ave., before coming to a stop.

The driver, Rodney P. Yeiter, 40, was taken to Bay Area Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released. No passengers were in the vehicle, the press release stated. No citations have been issued.

Yeiter had previously been arrested Saturday by Coos County Sheriff's Office deputies in the Barview area. He was arrested on charges of attempting to elude on foot, attempting to elude in a vehicle and reckless driving. At that time, he was taken to Coos County jail, where he was booked and released on his own recognizance.
