Love films on screen in CB

In honor of Valentine's Day, the Egyptian Theatre in downtown Coos Bay, will be showing a selection of romantic films. Showtimes are at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and at 3 p.m. on Sundays.
“Casablanca,” the thrilling 1942 romance classic set during World War II, will be on screen on Friday. Directed by Michael Curtiz, the film stars Humphrey Bogart as Rick Blaine and Ingrid Bergman as Ilsa Lund. Rick must choose between his love for Ilsa and assisting her husband in his fight against the Nazis.
The smash hit “Sleepless in Seattle” (1993), will be shown at on Saturday. Based on the classic film, “An Affair to Remember” (1957), “Sleepless” stars Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan as widower Sam Baldwin and journalist Annie Reed.
On Sunday “Doctor Zhivago” (1965), a World War I romance set in Russia, will be on screen. The story of a love-affair between poet and Doctor Yuri Zhivago, played by Omar Sharif, and his mistress Larissa (“Lara”) Antipova, played by Julie Christie.
The box office opens one hour before showtimes, and general admission is $4, $3.50 for seniors and those 12 and under, and $3 for members. For more information, those interested can call 269-8650.
