A Dungeness delight: the 22nd annual Charleston Crab Feed

The Charleston Merchant's Association will present the 22nd-annual Charleston Crab Feed from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, at the old Charleston Elementary School, 64065 Seven Devils Road.

The dinner will include fresh Dungeness crab, beans, salad, coleslaw, garlic bread and a beverage. Proceeds will help support the Charleston Visitors Center. Dinners will be $14 for a whole crab and $9 for half a crab. Other activities will be offered at the South Slough Reserve interpretive center and Shore Acres State Park. The Wild Women of Charleston, a volunteer community group that provides entertainment to visitors, will be up to their old antics again. The group has staged clam squirting contests, rain slicker and rubber boot fashion shows, unbeauty contests to determine the ugliest person in town and will help serve at the crab feed. In addition, the South Slough Reserve's “Creature Feature” will be on crabs from 1 to 3 p.m. at the interpretive center Saturday. Registration is required for all South Slough programs.
