Scottsburg residents will gather to celebrate the 210th birthday of founder Levi Scott from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Scottsburg Historical Building, in Scottsburg on state Highway 38.

There will be birthday cake and coffee and historical information will be on display.

Scott was born in Illinois on Feb. 8, 1797. He came to Oregon from Iowa and first settled near Dallas. In 1846, he led a party that laid out the Scott-Applegate Trail, which led from Fort Hall in Idaho to the lower Willamette Valley. Scott founded Scottsburg in 1850.
