Watershed Enhancement board meeting
Tuesday, January 23, 2007 1:21 PM PST
The Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board will discuss administrative rules related to grants that employ displaced fishers. The board also will consider buying land preservation agreements on 231 acres south of Yachats at meetings Wednesday and Thursday, at the Clean Water Services Administration Building at 2550 S.W. Hillsboro Highway, in Hillsboro. Both meetings begin at 8 a.m.
As part of the land preservation effort, the board is to consider spending $810,000 for five parcels along Tenmile Creek, which drains directly to the ocean about 10 miles south of Yachats. The land will remain in private ownership, but owners agree to maintain the Sitka spruce forest and streamside areas. The area provides excellent habitat for diverse types of fish and wildlife.
