Body of Gold Beach fisherman identified

Thursday, January 18, 2007 |
The body of a Brookings man who drowned on the fishing vessel Ash last month was identified Wednesday by the Curry County Sheriff's Office.
The remains of Louis T. Lobo, 39, washed up on a beach approximately five miles north of Gold Beach on Dec. 26, 10 days after the FV Ash sank near the mouth of the Rogue River. It took more than two weeks for the State Medical Examiner's Office in Central Point to identify Lobo with the help of family members and dental records.
He and three other crew members were presumed drowned, but only the bodies of Lobo and Mark Wagner have been found. Capt. Rob Ashdown and crewman Joshua Northcutt have not been located.
Members of Lobo's family, as well as those of the other crewmen, have been notified of the identification.
