Pirates, romance and runners on screen

The Egyptian Theatre in downtown Coos Bay starts off its weekend movie selection with an Oregon favorite, in a special fund-raiser for Sunset Middle School History Club students.
The Friday night feature is “The Goonies,” a 1985 movie filmed in Astoria and following the exploits of a group of kids who discover a pirate treasure map and trouble. The show starts at 7 p.m. Admission is $4.
At 7 p.m. Saturday, it's “The Long, Long Trailer,” a 1954 comedy starring Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball as newlyweds traveling on their honeymoon.
The 3 p.m. Sunday matinee will feature the Academy Award-winning movie “Chariots of Fire,” which was filmed in 1981 and follows two British athletes competing in the 1924 Olympics. |
