CoastWatch hosts talk on plovers, beaches

Coos County CoastWatch invites the public to a free presentation on snowy plover behavior, life cycle, habitat restoration and beach rules from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Ellen Warring Learning Center at the New River Area of Critical Environmental Concern.

Don Luce, a longtime snowy plover observer, will speak about snowy plover behavior, life cycle and the New River habitat restoration. Calum Stevenson, South Coast coordinator for Natural Resources from Oregon State Parks and Recreation, will speak on State Park's Snowy Plover Habitat Restoration Plan and about rules for vehicles on the beach, shoreline modifications, wood harvesting and rock and tidepool animal collection.
