NB library Chautauqua on NW oral histories

Thursday, January 11, 2007 |
The North Bend Public Library is sponsoring a free Oregon Chautauqua program by Tom Nash, titled “True Stories and Other Fictions in Northwest Oral History,” at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the library, 1800 Sherman Ave.
Nash will look at the elements of folklore embedded in supposedly nonfiction stories of frontier Oregon and the West. His material is drawn from Oregon oral histories that were recorded primarily in the 1930s and 1940s, and are now held at the State Library in Salem.
