Lending a helping hand

Inmates from Shutter Creek Correctional Institute, along with workers from the Belloni Boys Ranch, helped Coos Bay-North Bend Rotary Club members in loading a full-size container with donated items on Dec. 2. The work party members loaded equipment including medical diagnostic machines and computers, donated by the local medical communities; firefighting turnouts and equipment from local fire departments; and games and toys bought with funds from Rotary. The container is heading for Honduras, where the contents will be distributed to hospitals, fire departments and orphanages. The event wasn't the first for the local club. Rotary members here have packed and sent other containers to Honduras.
