Todd Young became the latest champion in The World's Pigskin Prognosticators contest last weekend, beating Josh Snoddy in the final.

Young missed just three of the 10 games, while Snoddy was wrong on five games.

“I have to admit I am surprised,” Young said. “There were four or five weeks I was sure I would be eliminated. I had the poorest record of all the competitors, but every week, there was one person who did a little worse.”

Young finished with a 56-percent accuracy rate. In contrast, Snoddy was right 62 percent of the time.

“I feel quite lucky,” Young said. “As a sports fan, I really enjoyed the competition. It was a lot of fun. It will be an honor to return next year to defend my title.”

Snoddy said the contest was fun, though he jokingly called for a change.

“I think we should go to a cumulative scoring system for this last week and for future years,” he said. “I had a good time and would like to do it again if given the chance.”

As champion, Young will get to return next year. The 2005 champion, Sharon Haga, will become a guest expert on the panel next fall.

In the overall standings, including the three experts, sports writer Scott J. Adams finished with the highest percentage, correct 63 percent of the time. 2004 champion John Mobley, this year's guest expert, was right 61 percent, while John Gunther, sports editor, matched young at 56 percent.
