Bulldog bowlers win first two tournaments

North Bend's girls have claimed titles in the first two prep bowling tournaments of the season.

The Bulldogs won the season opener on Nov. 5 at Timber Park Lanes in Springfield, edging Reedsport 286-255 in the two-game final. Springfield beat Siuslaw for third place.

In the second tournament, at Strike City in Eugene, North Bend beat Springfield 336-289 in the final, while Reedsport beat Siuslaw 322-241 for third place.

Members of North Bend's squad include Amy Curtis, Nikki Todd, Cassy Vos, Lydia Hartley, Elycia Rayburn, Dorthea Burdge, Kira Simpson and Stephanie Shobar. The team is coached by Bob Richardson, Sheryl Todd and Mark Mattecheck.

The first two boys tournaments were won by Marshfield and Springfield.

Marshfield beat North Bend 359-327 at Timber Park Lanes, with Thurston topping Cottage Grove 330-309 for third place.

At Strike City, Springfield beat North Bend 404-382 in the final, while Marshfield beat Siuslaw 394-344 in the third-place match.

Marshfield's varsity squad includes Michael Lambert, Mike Teyler, Andrew Clarkson, Ronnie Silva and Kyle Lyche, while the Pirates' No. 2 squad includes Nathaniel Camp, Daniel Ryder, Jordan Tardie, Cory Downs, Creager Cain and Zach Jones. The squad is coached by Matt Weybright and Shannon Weybright.

North Bend's top team is Shawn McNally, Brandon Mattecheck, Matt Crocker, Michael McDermott, Craig Chambers and Misael Legare. The No. 2 team includes James Balkema, Jason Tai, Jory Schmidt, Kyle Rose, Taylor Strand, Ryan Sanne and Blake Holmes. The coaches are Scott McNally, Ron Chambers, Randy Sanne and Mark Mattecheck.
