Veterans Day events are being held

Several events are planned on the South Coast in honor of Veterans Day.
Coos Bay
The Eagles Lodge 538 and American Legion Bay Area Post 34 will host a free dinner for all veterans and their families at 5 p.m. today at the Eagles lodge, 568 S. Second Ave., in Coos Bay.

Sunset Middle School will hold a Veterans Day assembly, to honor all veterans, from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday at the school, 245 S. Cammann St., in Coos Bay.
The students and staff would like to honor those veterans who live in the community and surrounding area. Veterans are invited to join the students and staff at the assembly.
Any veterans interesting in participating are asked to be at the school at 9 a.m. to be seated for the assembly.

Coquille
All veterans are invited to a free breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Coquille Elks Lodge, 54942 Maple Heights Road.
Spouses of veterans will be asked to pay $3 for the breakfast. Veterans do not need to be Elks to attend.

North Bend
Bay Area Post No. 34 of the American Legion in North Bend will hold its annual Veterans Day breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the American Legion hall, 1421 Airport Way, in North Bend.
The cost for breakfast is $5 per person, and children 12 and under pay $2.50. The breakfast is open to members of the Post and Unit and their guests. Any potential members are welcome to attend. The menu will include ham, eggs, potatoes, pancakes, toast, juice and coffee. An 11th hour ceremony also will be conducted at 11 a.m.
The American Legion Auxiliary will have on display items for the Christmas gift shop at the Roseburg VA Hospital. Any donations will be accepted for the Christmas gift shop during the breakfast.
