Health department receives two grants

The Coos County Health Department is the recipient of two grants.
The Oregon Dental Foundation awarded a grant in its spring 2006 grant cycle in the amount of $2,500 for the “Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies” dental program coordinated between Coos County Public Health and members of the Coos County Perinatal Task Force.
The March of Dimes Greater Oregon Chapter awarded a grant to the health department in its 2006 grant cycle in the amount of $10,000. The grant was given in support of the health department's Healthy Beginnings Maternity Case Management program, which is a nurse home visiting program designed to educate and support the pregnant women in Coos County on subjects including smoking cessation, nutrition for a healthy pregnancy, infant feeding and more.
