Coos County Public Health has Shots for Tots vouchers available for children ages 2 months to 18 years. Shots for Tots is supported by the Bay Area Rotary Club, Bay Area Hospital and the Coquille Indian Tribe. The vouchers are for children who do not have insurance that pays for immunizations, or those who are unable to pay their co-pay or deductible.

For the 2006-07 school year, students in kindergarten through grade 12 are required to have the following immunizations: diphtheria/tetanus series, polio series, hepatitis B series, varicella vaccine (if the child has not had chickenpox), two does of the measles vaccine, one dose of the mumps vaccine and one dose of the rubella vaccine.

Vaccinations recommended include the hepatitis A series and the tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis booster for children 11 years and older.

For more information, those interested can call the health department at 756-2020, ext. 510.
