A MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS -reduction program will be presented by Lynda Cole, RN, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the Spruce/Fir conference rooms of the Bay Area Hospital, 1775 Thompson Road, in Coos Bay. CLASSES ON BODY AWARENESS will be offered from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursdays and 11 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, at the First Presbyterian Church, 438 Elrod, in Coos Bay. Easy stretching, yoga postures, qi gung and tai chi will be incorporated into a smooth, gentle program focusing on balance, breathing and posture. OVEREATERS ANONYMOUS is a fellowship of people who share the common problem of compulsive overeating and those who are concerned about a friend or relative. CAR WASH FUND-RAISER: The friends of Linda Kennelly and her colleagues at Southwestern Oregon Community College will hold a car wash fund-raiser from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31, in front of the family center at Southwestern, 1988 Newmark Ave., in Coos Bay.

THE ANNUAL RUMMAGE SALE at the United Methodist Church in Coquille will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1; and a $1 brown bag sale from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 2, at the church, located on the corner of Second and North Baxter streets.

OIMB public exhibit: The public is invited to view the public exhibit, open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, through mid-September, at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology on Boat Basin Road in Charleston.

Artwork from FlorenceArtists.com will be on display in Gallery One of the Florence Events Center Galleries throughout August. Each artist from the Web site will be asked to display one or two of their best artwork in the gallery.

The Coos County Fairgrounds Museum will hold summer hours from noon to 4 p.m. daily through to Labor Day.

HOT MEALS FOR SENIORS: Bay Area Senior Activity Center offers soups, salads, entrées and desserts at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday through Friday, with bingo on Wednesday nights. THE NORTH BEND SENIOR CENTER'S luncheon program is available to everyone, not just seniors. Buffet-style meals are available from 11:30 a.m. until everyone is served, Monday through Friday. COASTAL HARVEST, Oregon's 37th gleaning organization and holder of Oregon's 2004 Excellence in Community Services Award for “Providing Special Services for Families,” invites help in providing food security for families in Bandon. Whether people volunteer, donate surplus bounty from gardens or gift the group for memorials, such efforts will be “helping grow a sharing community.” Monthly meetings are held in Bandon on the first Thursday.
