Jesse Lindsay earned the rank of Eagle Scout on April 27.

Lindsay joined Boy Scout Troop 313 in Bandon in January 2000. As a Boy Scout, he earned 22 merit badges including the 12 required for the rank of Eagle Scout. He has held numerous leadership positions within his troop, the last one being the junior assistant scoutmaster, helping with the planning of the troop meetings and activities.

Lindsay completed his Eagle Scout project in the summer and fall of 2005. His project consisted of planting 20 rhododendrons; designing, constructing and installing name tags for each of the different varieties of rhododendrons; and then placing the bark mulch landscaping around the Bandon Public Library. He spent 60 hours of his own time to plan and complete the project, and had the assistance of 34 helpers, working an additional 122 hours.

Lindsay recently graduated from Bandon High School, and will attend the University of Oregon this fall. While in high school, Lindsay was active in student government, serving as the sophomore and junior class president, and senior class vice president.

He also was the president of the National Honor Society; was chosen as one of this year's salutatorians for his graduating class; and was a member of the golf team for four years. He is active in his church, and has gone on several missions to assist in the construction of homes for those living in Honduras and Mexico.

He plans to earn a degree in business marketing.
