Tuesday, August 8, 2006 2:32 PM PDT
Night tours of the Umpqua River Lighthouse will be offered to the public from 8:30 to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at 1020 Lighthouse Road in Winchester Bay, beginning at the museum building.
The tours are in honor of Lighthouse Week, Aug. 5 through Aug. 13. The keeper and volunteers will host a night tour consisting of a Power Point presentation about Oregon lighthouses and a personal tour of the museum. Those attending will experience the First Order Fresnel Lens rotating around their heads and shoulders. Light refreshments will be served during a question-and-answer session at the end of the evening.
Cost is $10 per person and must be paid via cash or check. Participation will be limited to two groups of 12 each evening. For more information or to make reservations, those interested can call (541) 271-4631. |
