Sandblasters top St. Helens

The Three Rivers Sandblasters opened a four-game weekend series with St. Helens with a 6-4 victory on Friday.
Mike Pitcher and Scott Carpenter combined on a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts for the Sandblasters and Beau Biron and David Deutschmann each had two hits.
The game was tied at four in the fifth inning, when Biron had a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Travis Anderson.
Three Rivers added an insurance run in the sixth. Shane Rose walked, stole second and scored on a single by Adam Reed.
Biron had two runs and an RBI and Deutschman scored one run.
The teams play a doubleheader today at Siuslaw High School, the first game starting at 1 p.m. On Sunday, the teams play a single nine-inning game at 1:30 p.m.
