Errors doomed the North Coos American Legion baseball team as the Waterfront was swept on the road by Roseburg Horizon on Thursday.

Roseburg won 5-3 and 8-4, dropping North Coos to 3-7 in league play.

Scott Buche pitched a complete game in the opener for North Coos, allowing just six hits, but was undone by four errors, including two in the third inning, when Roseburg scored four of its runs. Buche had five strikeouts and three walks.

Jeff Jackson had a two-run triple in the inning and Jordan Radford added an RBI triple.

North Coos scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings. Jacob Keller had two of the runs, one after a single and the other after a walk. Steven Walton, Neal Vaught and Kale Forrester had the RBIs for the Waterfront. Vaught had two hits in the game.

North Coos stranded 12 runners in the game.

North Coos scored three runs in the first inning of the nightcap, but Roseburg Horizon took the lead with two runs in the first and three more in the second.

T.J. Thomas, Tyler Mais and Keller had consecutive singles in the first inning and all eventually scored. Mais added another run in the third when he walked, stole second and later scored on a fielder's choice by Buche.

Keller had two hits and an RBI in the losing effort, while Vaught pitched a complete game, giving up eight hits while striking out five and walking two. He gave up just one earned run.

Billy Deaton and Travis Olson each had a double and two runs in the game for Roseburg, which includes players from Class 2A state champion Glide and Far West League champion South Umpqua, among other Roseburg area schools.

The Waterfront is back in action today at home against the Grants Pass Diggers. The doubleheader starts at 2 p.m., a switch from a starting time announced earlier.
