Boys & Girls Club accepting old phone books

Tuesday, June 27, 2006 |
New Verizon Yellow Pages phone books are being delivered, and the only place in Coos Bay to recycle old directories is at the Boys and Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon, 3333 Walnut Ave. A recycling bin has been placed in the parking lot.
Verizon will make a donation for phone books collected by the Club through the end of July. Last year, Verizon donated $1,000 to the effort.
Those who want to do a neighborhood collection and gather a large number of phone books are asked to call the Boys & Girls Club at 267-3635 to arrange pickup. Businesses can call to arrange for pickup as well.
Other drop off locations on the South Coast include:
€ Brookings - Curry Transfer & Recycling Inc., 17498 Carpenterville Road, 3 miles north of Brookings; and Wridge Creek Transfer and Recycling site, 9 miles north of Brookings.
€ Gold Beach - Nesika Beach Transfer and Recycling site, 7 miles north of Gold Beach, turn right on Edisen Creek Road, go 1/4 mile and make another right.
€ Port Orford - Port Orford Transfer & Recycling, about 1 mile north of town, left on Paradise Road, right on Arizona Street, go 1.5 miles.
