Research, stewardship of marine ecosystem events to be held in Port Orford

The Port Orford Ocean Resource Team is initiating a series of public events to highlight research and stewardship of Port Orford's marine ecosystem.
The project will begin with a locally harvested seafood reception from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 30, at Wild Wind Cafe, 831 Oregon St., in Port Orford.
A forum will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Savoy Theater, located at 811 Oregon St., in Port Orford.
POORT and its partners will describe projects, provide community involvement opportunities within these projects and premiere a Greenfire Productions film on the area's marine features.
Special guest Dr. Michael Webster, a marine ecologist who has scuba dived and photographed Orford Reef, also will give a presentation.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
A copy of the meeting agenda can be obtained at the POORT office at 351 W. Sixth St., in Port Orford.
