Workplace safety training offered at college
Monday, June 12, 2006 1:31 PM PDT
The Department of Consumer and Business Services, Occupational Safety and Health Division will be offering two days of free training sessions on workplace safety and health topics, on June 21 and 22, at Southwestern Oregon Community College, 1988 Newmark Ave., in Coos Bay.
From 1 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, the class will be “What to Expect from an OR-OSHA Inspection.” This workshop aims to help clear up some misconceptions about Oregon OSHA, and how an OR-OSHA compliance officer conducts an inspection or investigation on a worksite, including the rights and responsibilities of both employers and employees.
From 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday, June 22, the class will be “Exposure Control/Bloodborne Pathogens,” and is an important training class for anyone in an occupation that has the potential of coming into contact with bodily fluids.
From 1 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, the last class will be a hearing conservation program. This workshop introduces an effective approach to preserving the sense of hearing throughout a lifetime of work and play.
To register for the training workshops, requests should be faxed on company letterhead to (503) 947-7462; or those interested can register on the Oregon OSHA Web site, www.orosha.org, under “Education.”
For more information, those interested can call (503) 947-7443 or (888) 292-5247, Option 2. |
