Summer weather spotter class will begin on Wednesday in CB
Ryan Sandler, from the National Weather Service office in Medford, will present a summer weather spotter training class from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, in the conference room of the Coos Bay Public Library, 525 W. Anderson Ave.
A variety of topics will be covered, including an explanation of the weather patterns that affect the area during summer, the basics of thunderstorm development, a severe weather safety video, and severe summer weather warnings and advisories issued by the NWS, as well as when a weather spotter should call the NWS.
All members of the general public are invited to attend and the NWS will be recruiting new weather spotters. There is no cost for this class and all new spotters will receive a free rain gauge and a welcome package.
