First of tall ships arrives

The tall ship, Hawaiian Chieftain, sailed into Coos Bay late Thursday morning, arriving from Brookings following what Captain Ryan Meyer called a night of “winds blowing about 20 to 30 knots, and a choppy sea of about 10-foot swells at about six-to eight-second intervals.” The Lady Washington arrived from Eureka, Calif. Both ships will be docked at the Coos Bay Boardwalk through May 15. Dockside tours and educational opportunities will be available to the public, and the Marshfield Sun Printing Museum will be open special hours. For more information, those interested can see Out & About, Page A6, or call (800) 200-LADY.
