Spelling Bee on May 9

Tuesday, May 02, 2006 |
The Coos County Spelling Bee, sponsored by South Coast Educational Service District, The World and the Boys & Girls Club, which gives students county-wide the opportunity to compete at the state spelling bee this summer, will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 9, at the Boys & Girls Club.
Students throughout the county are encouraged to sign up through their schools, said Ginny Groce at the ESD, for the chance to win trophies and savings bonds, and advance to the state competition.
Students can enter in one of five divisions based on grade level, K-3, 4-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Competing students will be tested by the school, and the highest score in each division will represent the school at the county spelling bee.
Those interested in more information can contact school administrators or call Groce at the ESD, 269-4523.
