BANDON - The Bandon School District didn't need to look far to find a new superintendent. The district has announced it has offered the job to Diane Buche, the principal at Ocean Crest Elementary School.
Retiring Superintendent Kenny Kent had made it a point to recommend Buche for the job.
The 47-year-old Buche has been principal at Ocean Crest since September 2005. Prior to that, she spent 18 years as an elementary teacher in Myrtle Point and five years as a principal in Myrtle Point schools. She has two sons, one in college and another who attends Myrtle Point High School. Both are active in sports.
“I'm excited, but a little bit nervous,” Buche said. “I have big shoes to fill.”
Kent said he was pleased with the decision. As to replacing the Ocean Crest principal position, he said it was going to be a “hard, thought-out process, especially considering budget constraints.”
Buche's salary will be negotiated with the contract, which hasn't yet been finalized. The School Board is to discuss Buche's acceptance of the job at its next meeting.
The School Board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. May 8, in the district cafeteria, 455 Ninth St. S.W. |
