The Oregon Recreation Trails Advisory Council is seeking nominations for an award that recognizes Oregon's leading trail builders.
Called the Doug Newman Recreation Trails Achievement Award, it was established by the council to recognize a who have made significant contributions to advancing the state's non-motorized trail experiences during the previous year.
Nominations must be submitted in writing to OPRD Recreation Trails Coordinator Rocky Houston by May 15. Nominators should briefly address whether a candidate's contribution benefits a large number and variety of trail users; significantly contributes to the planning, design, development, or maintenance of a trail; and inspires the contributions of others.
The council invites nominations from all non-motorized trail organizations and government agencies as well as from the general public.
