LAKE OSWEGO (AP) - A man was charged Tuesday with killing an elderly couple in their Lake Oswego home more than 25 years ago.
Ryan Lawrence Anthony, 48, of Portland was arrested on two counts of murder, said Capt. Don Forman of the Lake Oswego Police Department.
Anthony is being held without bail in the Clackamas County Jail.
He is accused of killing Ottilia and Casper Volk, who were stabbed to death in July 1980.
The arrest was made after an Oregon State Police crime lab report linked Anthony to the deaths based on DNA evidence.
Forman said a DNA sample had recently been obtained from Anthony.
Anthony is divorced from one of the couple's granddaughters.
“By virtue of that relationship, he has been known to us for some time,” Forman said.
The captain said he was hoping an arrest would be made before he retired. |
