Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Ore., will be the guest speaker at Wednesday's Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Independent Business Operators luncheon forum, which will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the Salmon Room at The Mill Casino-Hotel in North Bend.

Earlier in the day, DeFazio will tour American Bridge in Reedsport before heading to the armory in Coos Bay, where he will present a Purple Heart and POW medal to World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran George Arvanites.

In the afternoon, the congressman will speak to students at a youth summit in the Hales Performing Arts Center at Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay.
