Sixth-graders from Suzanna Adams' class at Lighthouse Charter School in North Bend performed the play “Pluto and Proserpina” for parents and students last week. Center, the Sprite's - portrayed by sixth graders from left, McKenna Spencer, Kayla Bauer and Elizibeth Carnahan - hug each other during a scene. Bottom, Pluto, far left, (Ben Ahlin) converses with the shepherds about falling in love with Proserpina. Pluto is ruler of the underworld while Proserpina is the daughter of Ceres, Goddess of the Harvest and all that is abundant and good. After the play the fourth-graders also performed dancing, singing and drumming under the direction of Shannon Souza.
